During my internship at Halton News, I covered a variety of local stories, ranging from fundraisers and music nights to child puppet protégés. I was responsible for pitching, writing, filming, and editing multiple news segments.
One of my biggest challenges during my internship at Halton News was finding engaging, newsworthy stories in a community with limited events. With few major events happenings, it was difficult to consistently identify fresh and compelling content for news segments.
To overcome this, I sought out lesser-known stories, engaged with the community, and monitored social media and local forums. I also found unique angles on everyday events, turning them into engaging stories.
Process and Development
From January to April 2025, I was responsible for the entire process of creating news stories for Your TV. I pitched story ideas that I found compelling and relevant to a diverse audience. Once a story was approved, I coordinated with the necessary contacts to schedule a shoot. I conducted on-site interviews using prepared questions and captured the necessary B-roll footage to enhance the storytelling. Finally, I edited the footage into a polished 2–3-minute segment for the show.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience, as it has allowed me to connect with the Halton community and share meaningful stories.
